Gov Alfred Mutua's Explanation for Uhuru's Silence

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has shed some light on President Uhuru Kenyatta's silence since his return from China almost two weeks ago.

Taking to his social media, the former government spokesperson stated that Kenyans need not worry about Uhuru's whereabouts as he is busy working.

"Lately, I have heard of people asking why President Uhuru Kenyatta is not seen in the public since he came back from China," Mutua noted.

He added that President Kenyatta's work is not to go everywhere finding every excuse to appear in public.

The county boss explained that Uhuru had so much to do, because the people who were supposed to help him run the country, were engaged in politics and thus had abandoned the President with a load of work.

He termed President Kenyatta as a manager and as such, he needed time to get to work.

"Uhuru Kenyatta is busy working because he has to do double work. Some of those who should be assisting him are busy playing politics, whereas our youth are struggling at home.

"Kenya needs managers who can change our country. That is why it is time for a generational change and a new way of doing things," wrote Governor Mutua.

Some of Mutua's followers interpreted his statement to mean the governor was blaming DP Ruto, who is supposed to be Uhuru's helper, but speaking to this writer, Governor Mutua clarified "I do not blame anybody. All I am saying is that management of a government requires office work and not daily politicking."

Kenyans have been demanding to see Uhuru because, in Kenya, the president's visibility is a key element of the office.

True to Mutua's words, Kenyans.co.ke had spoken to State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena on Friday, who confirmed that the president was indeed in State House working.
