Aden Duale Addresses Plot to Oust Matiang'i by Ruto Allies

The National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has addressed claims that Ruto allies plotted to impeach Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i

On Wednesday, the majority leader denied the claims citing that the war on corruption was being politicized.

"As the leader of the majority in this House, I want to categorically state there are no plans or any process to impeach any minister, including Matiangi," he stated.

"Let us not politicize corruption and let's not involve the names of civil servants who cannot defend themselves,” he added.

On Monday, the National Assembly Minority Leader, John Mbadi, revealed that there was a conspiracy purportedly orchestrated by Deputy President William Ruto to impeach the Interior CS Fred Matiang'i before 2022.

In a press conference held in his Nairobi office, the ODM legislator blasted the deputy president for linking former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and the CS to the fake gold scam.

"This gold scam has been turned into a political machine, the deputy president and his team are stopping the DCI and DPP from doing their work and using this scam to target one CS, Matiang'i," he stated.

Duale further added that Mbadi did not have the numbers needed to defend ministers.

"Mbadi doesn't have the numbers to defend ministers. It is Jubilee that I represent that will defend any other minister, including Matiang'i, if any impeachment is brought against him," he cited.
