Kenyans Turn Heat on Their Leaders Using #CongratulationsMheshimiwa

Through a Twitter hashtag trending for the better part of Friday, Kenyans shamed their leaders by posting about corruption scandals, heinous projects launched and embarrassing moments that they have encountered.

The sarcastic hashtag #CongratulationsMheshimiwa caused a stir on Twitter, with Kenyans reminiscing on times their leaders have let them done.

"#CongratulationsMheshimiwa for your generosity. These pupils will use these shoes till they complete their higher education," Jared Nyambega stated, referring to when the senator donated oversized shoes to children.

"#CongratulationsMhemishiwa Thank you for forcing us to queue several hours for a mysterious #HudumaNamba that we have no idea what it harbours and putting our data at risk," Omar Noor stated.

"#CongratulationsMheshimiwa for abuse of office, bribery, unethical conduct, illegal acquisition and disposal of public property and tax evasion," Kennedy Gichuru weighed in.

"The silly things our politicians have been launching in the name of projects #CongratulationsMheshimiwa," Chemutai Bii stated regarding a project launched by the Tharaka Nithi County.

"Let me take this fake-golden opportunity to congratulate Wetangula for not stealing from our own country #CongratulationsMheshimiwa," another user stated.

This comes after the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) raided Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu's home on Thursday over graft allegations.

The outspoken governor is under the EACC radar over alleged corruption in a number of his county programmes, including Kaa Sober, which was aimed at rehabilitating alcoholics.
