4 Journalist Declared Winners in the Ongoing Jubilee, ODM and Wiper Nominations

Four top journalists have surprisingly joined the August 2017 election race after being declared winners in the ongoing Jubilee Party and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations.

Top on the list is Former Kameme FM Radio Presenter Gathoni Wa Muchomba who garnered 374,306 votes against incumbent Kiambu Women Representative Ann Nyokabi, who is also President Uhuru Kenyatta's cousin. Nyokabi got 20,268 votes during Jubilee Party nominations in Kiambu County on Wednesday.

In Migori County former Royal Media Journalist Ben Oluoch won the Orange Democratic Movement senatorial nominations in Migori County. The former Ramogi FM presenter floored his two rivals Gordon Odhiambo and Michael Ochieng after garnering 68,194 votes in the nomination process that was conducted on Monday.

In Kitui County, former Standard Group Editor Enoch Wambua won the Wiper Party senatorial nominations with 99,694 votes against incumbent Paul Mutisya who got 38,545 votes

In Kisii County, former Royal Media Journalist Dorice Ndonya Toto floored incumbent Woman Representative Mary Otara in the Jubilee nominations. The former Egesa FM radio presenter garnered 54,594 votes against Otara's 15,821 votes.

Nonetheless, not all journalists seeking various political seats are celebrating big wins from the ongoing primaries. Former KTN Journalist Mohammed Ali suffered a defeat by his rival Said Abdallah in the ODM nominations for the Nyali parliamentary seat.

The ODM Dispute & Appeals Tribunal, however, nullified the nomination results for Nyali MP seat on Wednesday, indicating that the elections were not conducted in a free and fair manner.
