Double Murder Mystery Leaves Vihiga Residents in Fear

Residents of Vihiga were left in distress after two bodies of a couple that had been missing were found on Saturday night.

David Kinambendi's corpse was found at the bottom of newly constructed pit latrine while his wife's, Ruth Mwenesi, lifeless body was found atop a pool of blood at their house.

Reports by the Daily Nation claimed that initial finding pointed towards a murder-suicide scenario leading up to the two mysterious deaths.

"We suspect Kinambendi killed his wife and then decided to throw himself into the toilet," local Chief, Henry Chunguli, divulged.

The deceased couple had been reported as missing on May 23, 2019, after they both failed to make it home at the end of the day, something which had never happened before.

This prompted the chief to mobilize locals as well as security officers who went on to comb the area before finally discovering the two bodies.

“Someone peeped through their bedroom window and saw the body of Mwenesi lying down. We broke in and found her in a pool of blood," he disclosed.

Investigations are underway to determine what may have taken place as well identifying any suspects that may be at large.

The two bodies were reportedly ferried to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital Mortuary in Mbale/ Maragoli.

Visibly shaken residents and relatives refused to answer questions posed by the media at the scene of the mysterious murders.

This comes just days after a police offensive to drive out criminal gangs in Matungu area who have killed at least 14 residents of the area was flagged off.
