4 Kenyan Worshippers Knocked Down by Matatu in Uganda

Four Kenyans pilgrims died on Sunday after being knocked down by a14-seater matatu along the Iganga-Jinja highway in Uganda.

Citizen Digital reported that five others were injured during the early morning accident.

Father Melchizedek Wafula of Kisoko Parish in Bungoma confirmed the incident. He went ahead to reveal that three women and one man had lost their lives.

Two of them died on the spot while the others were confirmed dead on arrival at Iganga Hospital, Uganda.

The victims were part of a group of 150 people who were walking to Namugongo Martyrs Catholic Shrine in Uganda

This incident comes barely six weeks a month after two worshippers fell into Menengai Crater.

A report by The Standard indicated that the two had gone on a walk after attending prayers at Kirima-top Presbyterian Church of East Africa.

They had travelled from Kitale for Easter prayers at the church before they went missing.

Other worshippers, who had attended the prayer session, informed the police and locals about what had befallen the two.

Kenya Red Cross Nakuru Chairperson Njeri Muhia disclosed that the search team spotted one of the victims trapped on a tree branch. However, it was unclear whether he was dead or alive.
