Ex-KDF Officer Arrested as DCI Rescue Kidnapped Girl

A former Kenya Defence Forces officer Christopher Mwaula Kathinzi was arrested on Tuesday as detectives from the Directorate of Criminal investigations rescued a 4-year-old girl who had been kidnapped.

The minor had been allegedly kidnapped in Utawala on Friday, May 24.

The ex-KDF was arrested in the company of 20-year-old Teresia Mwongela Kioko and they had both demanded a ransom of Ksh1 million.

Kathinzi had been dishonorably discharged from the military over unknown offenses the police reported.

The girl was traced to Machakos County where she was found in the custody of the two suspects.

Kathinzi who is 22-years of age and his accomplice are set to be arraigned in court after police complete their investigations.

The girl, who is in Baby Class, is reported to have been abducted by two unknown persons while walking near the gate to their home.

This comes just three days after DCI rescued another boy in Kawangware who had been kidnapped in Loresho.

In that incident, two suspects were arrested for demanding a ransom of Ksh3 million.

In both cases, the identities of the minors remain hidden for their own safety.
