Australian Police Launch Manhunt as Kenyan Woman is Found Dead

Police in Australia have launched investigations into the possible murder of a Kenyan woman who was found dead.

They found the body of Jelagat Cheruiyot, 34, at a block of units on Main Street in Osborne Park on Wednesday afternoon.

Police had gone to check on her after family members raised concerns after failing to hear from her in a while.

"They were concerned because she had not been seen for several days and they were unable to make contact with her which was very unusual," Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Wright stated.

Police also reported that Cheruiyot, also known as Nancy to her friends, had sustained injuries hence suspected foul play.

They, however, did not release details of what the injuries were or how she might have received them.

"A forensic examination has identified that there are injuries to the deceased and as a result of those injuries we have declared that this is a homicide investigation," he added.

The officer stated that they were looking for two vehicles that were also linked to the address in which the deceased was found.

It is believed Cheruiyot had been living in Australia for a few years and was working at a business in Perth's south.

Homicide detectives are expected to remain at the scene as they continue their investigation.
