Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa on Monday issued a directive to Opposition Leader Raila Odinga to find ways of bringing back Miguna Miguna back to the country.
Speaking at a fundraising event in Lugari, Barasa urged the former PM to extend the same handshake to the controversial and vocal lawyer.
"I want to tell Raila Odinga, that you know Miguna Miguna is a Kenyan, you were the one who hired him in your office when you were Prime Minister, so if you were engaging in the real handshake Miguna Miguna should be back in this country in the shortest time possible,” the Kimilili MP remarked.
He added that the former PM had successfully brought peace to the nation after the 2017 polls and in the same spirit of forgiveness and unity, he needed to bring back Miguna as soon as possible.
His efforts to come back to the nation have been thwarted severally at the JKIA with the immigration department stating that he can only visit the nation as a tourist with no permit to stay in the country permanently.
Barasa was accompanied by former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale, Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali, and several Members of County Assembly(MCAs), who managed to raise a total of Ksh2.3 Million for Lugari Self Help Group.
The leaders have openly declared their support for Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential elections.
While speaking to Citizen TV's news anchor Jeff Koinange in an exclusive TV interview last week, Miguna blasted Odinga for what he termed as betrayal by letting him remain exiled in Canada.
The embattled lawyer was deported following his role in swearing-in Raila as the people’s President in a widely covered event held at Uhuru Park in January 2018.
