Lawyer Assa Nyakundi Goes Missing Despite Facing Murder Charge

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations' Special Crime have launched a manhunt of city lawyer Assa Nyakundi, whom they believe is missing.

This is after the city lawyer, who is accused of killing his son, failed to attend court on Thursday.

DCI boss George Kinoti on Sunday stated that Nyakundi could not be traced at both his Muthaiga residence and a hotel he used to stay in Kilimani, People Daily reports.

"He has not been seen and cannot be reached on phone. Our officers are looking for him," the DCI boss noted.

In May, the DCI rejected a manslaughter charge against the lawyer, citing that senior officers had bungled the case.

"This is one of those cases I was not briefed at all by my officers. I only heard of the manslaughter charge from the media.

"Even the DPP was horrified," Kinoti had earlier stated.

The City lawyer, who had been hospitalized for more than six weeks, maintained that his son's shooting was an accident and added that he loved him and there was nothing more to lose.

He also stated he had never been to prison, adding it would not be worse than losing his son in the manner it happened.

"There is nothing more to lose at this point. I have lost everything," he had stated.
