MP Wears School Uniform & Walks Barefoot While Launching Project

While most politicians or leaders launch projects while suited up and wearing elegant shoes, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa decided to do it a little different.

The lawmaker was on Friday officially presiding over the opening of Darja Mbili Primary school that was built by the area Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Photos seen by Kenyans.co.ke show the MP in school uniform, a brown patched short, white shirt, a tie and barefoot while delivering his speech to a crowd.

He was allegedly dressed in this attire to depict the life of school going children in the villages.

"My message of hope to the enthusiastic learners: 'The fact that today you go to school on an empty stomach and barefoot should not kill your dream of becoming the president one day," the MP stated.

Lately, politicians have been saying or doing things they rarely engage in just to pass across the information.

During the National Prayer Breakfast, Deputy President William Ruto highlighted that he got his first pair of shoes in 1981 after sitting for his CPE examinations.

"My father bought me my first pair of shoes in 1981 from a Mr.Onyango on the street. The shoes cost Ksh 60, he could not afford the bata shoes," he narrated.

He narrated this story as he told his critiques not to judge him too harshly as he had a lot to thank God for.

"I beg you to understand that some of us have more to thank God for than some of you so, please, I beg you to understand because sometimes you judge us harshly," he added.

The deputy president has previously come under attack for making contributions in churches.
