Sonko Caught on Camera Violently Assaulting Suspected Thief [VIDEO]

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was on Sunday filmed assaulting a young man whom Kenyans.co.ke established was accused of stealing a mobile phone at Madiwa area in Eastleigh.

Residents captured the suspect as he tried to flee with the mobile device.

In the video obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, members of the public can be seen dragging him to where Sonko was reporting that "He is trying to run away governor."

Sonko then walks up to the captured man and deals a heavy slap on his face, asking who the phone belongs to and where he took it.

The governor had visited Madiwa in Eastleigh to stop the demolition of houses that he termed as illegal.

"This evening I visited Madiwa area in Eastleigh where a private developer illegally demolished some buildings. My administration will not condone such acts of injustice and I will ensure justice is done to the victims," the governor declared.

This is not the first time Sonko physically assaulted someone in a heated moment.

On May 25, the county boss jumped to the defence of Buruburu residents who were being attacked by an armed gang which had been sent to unlawfully demolish a church and school in Buruburu Phase 4.

Seemingly angry after witnessing women who had been roughed up by the gang, Sonko and his team apprehended the men sent to evict the residents.

They were subdued as they were made to sit on the ground handcuffed. It is at this point that Governor Sonko slapped one of the goons who was explaining their mission at the site.
