Watch as Sonko Gifts Ex-Bodyguard Ksh300K New Notes at Wedding [VIDEO]

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko surprised his former bodyguard with a Ksh 300,000 gift of the new currency.

The former aide, identified as Chris, tied the knot with the love of his life on Saturday in an event that was attended by the governor and other dignitaries.

Sonko reached into his pocket and gifted the former bodyguard with the bundles while explaining that he had legit money contrary to the claims of some Kenyan blogs.

"Paparazzi claimed I have a lot of money in my house and that the old currency wants to be wiped out from the circulation.

"So I have not brought the old currency. I went to Central Bank, gave them my old money and they changed for me with the new currency. So I will give out a prize of Ksh 300,000," he told the congregation sending them to laughter.

He further took that opportunity to advise the newlyweds on how to keep a longlasting relationship and marriage.

"Mtoto was wenyewe akikukosea na uone uko na hasira, usimguse, toka nje, enda upige ngumi ukuta, hasira iishe urudi kwa nyumba (When your spouse comes and they are angry, don't touch them, just go out, punch a wall so that you cool down then go back to the house.

"Wakati Chris anakukosea, wewe kuwa chini. Wakati mtakosana, mmoja akuwe juu, mwingine akuwe chini. Mimi na first lady tumekaa for over 20 years, tumevumiliana mambo mingi (When Chris wrongs you, just be humble. When one person is angry, the other one should be humble. I and the first lady have been together for over 20 years and we have endured a lot)," he continued.

The groom was dressed in military regalia while his bride stunned in a sleeveless white gown during the well-attended affair.

Sonko also addressed an ongoing debate over the inclusion of a statue of the founding President Jomo Kenyatta on the new note explaining that he saw nothing wrong.

"I am among the first people to change the currency. All my money is now in the form of the new currency. You see, a statue is not an individual and I support the photo of Jomo Kenyatta being at the back of the note because the KICC was constructed while he was still president," he explained.

He congratulated the newlyweds and wished them a happy and prosperous life.
