Uhuru Teases CSs for Standing During His Speech

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday made fun of Cabinet Secretaries who stood when he made references to them during his speech.

The President, who was speaking at State House in Nairobi during the Ajira Kwa Vijana conference, made a light moment during the serious event.

While referring to CS for Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) Joe Mucheru who shot to his feet at the mention of his name, he was jokingly asked by the president to sit down, amid laughter from the audience.

"In fact, if you can recall not long ago we were involved with the Minister here Mucheru..Sit down my friend, " the president bantered.

As Mucheru took his seat, the president continued with his speech and again mentioned the CS for Sports, Heritage, and Culture, Amina Mohammed, who also stood and again, the president requested her to take her seat.

"We have created under Amina right now... Kindly there is no need stand, these are not the olden days," he continued with his speech.

In the session, Michele Dibo, a representative of the Voices of the Kenyan Youth, sought to know whether there was a plan by the government to strategically support the creative system to create more opportunities especially since it had been neglected in the formal education system.

The President admitted that the area of arts and sports had been neglected, but the government was now focussed on improving the sector.

"We are starting and hope to set up studios across the country and we have figured that has been one of the greatest obstacles that young people have the talent but do not have the resources to create these studios. So we want to create studios across the country where people can go and record or perform," affirmed Uhuru.

He also advocated for making Kenya a center to attract international companies and make Kenya a destination for making movies as it will create more opportunities for young people.
