Kenyan's Narration of Extremely Slow Immigration Service Goes Viral

A Kenyan's minute by minute narration of the extremely slow service he was undergoing in his bid to update his passport went viral on Thursday.

The man known as Joram Mwinamo on Facebook sent out his first post at 5:41 am in which he reported having found over 300 people already queuing outside the Immigration offices at Nyayo House in Nairobi.

"I'm amazed at how much our country takes it's tax paying citizens for granted. I'm like 300 people away from the front on the men's queue. Which means those at the front came at 2 or 3. It's cold," an excerpt of his post divulged.

This elicited comments from hundreds of Kenyans who either chose to share similar experiences regarding the grave situation one undergoes at the government office.

"Was there last week from 6 am and left at 2:40 pm..this is crazy they should improve the services and probably create other stations. its really overwhelming," Susan Maina Sofia responded.

Mwinamo sent out out his second post an hour later in which he described how people were forced to scramble into the building like "deranged headless chicken" once they have gone through security as no particular order is followed.

"It gets worse. The separation of men and women is only for security check. Once you are in it becomes 1 LINE! So people run. I hear there's a cut-off point," he disclosed.

Netizens kept flooding his timeline with hundreds of them sympathising with him while sharing their own funny and comical personal experiences at Nyayo House.

"My coping strategy is to engage the persons next to me in stories. Kenyans are great storytellers, plus someone will have a worse Nyayo House story than you," a user named Edith Kawira posted.

Mwinamo kept updating netizens with his other post coming exactly an hour later, where he explained that other Kenyans on the queue, which looked like those 'iron lion zion' trains people form in clubs, had informed him that only 600 people would be served each day.

"Number 601 to 1000+ have to wait close to 4 hrs to find out if they will be served or not. I think this building was always destined to torture people," he posted.

His next post, which came at 9:46 am, was an alarming one. He was yet to get inside the actual building, 4 hours since his arrival.

"9:46 am almost inside the waiting bay....if you think this is bad...then wait for my next post!" Mwinamo divulged.

An hour later, he finally let netizens, who had flooded his timeline, know that he had made it to the waiting bay inside the building but he was unfortunately tagged as number 436.

At 11:56 he gave another update, announcing that he had finally found his way to the waiting bench in front of him.

Followers and friends engaged him with some sharing extremely funny pointers to break the ice.

"You should create a Nyayo house survival kit... power bank... water? Toilet paper? Snacks?" Valentine Njoroge posted.

Mwinamo's last post was sent out at 12:56 pm, seven hours after arriving at Nyayo House, during which he bid farewell, due to the fact that his phone's batteries were almost dead, promising to give an update later on.

The time is 3:21 and Mwinamo is still at the waiting bay according to his latest post, he insisted that he would make a formal complaint.

"I have been advised to do a formal complaint because that's the only way things can change. Pressing send now. ps: I'm still in the waiting bay," he posted.
