Police Forced to Detain Kakamega Twins After Chaos Erupt

Kakamega twins were on Thursday evening detained at the town's police station after chaos erupted when one of their mothers forcefully went to get her biological daughter.

The police detained the two biological twins Sharon Mitekwa and Melon Lutenyo, their sister Mevies Imbaya and her mother Angeline Omina after chaos erupted at Kakamega town.

"We did this to ensure their safety, given tensions were simmering between the two families.

"Ignore rumours that we arrested them; no, we only put them in safe custody,” Kakamega County Police Commander Bernard Muli told a local publication.

Ms Omina sought the intervention of police officers who escorted her to where the girls had been living when the chaos erupted.

However, police officers intervened in time and took control of the situation.

Mevis had earlier on refused to live with her biological mother, claiming that she wanted to stay with the other two girls, Sharon and Melon.

Mevis mother on the other hand, lived with one of the identical twins, Sharon, following a mix-up at Kakamega Hospital when they were born.

These wrangles come just a week after the three girls asked not to be separated despite the results of the DNA tests.
