4 Exciting Items Uhuru Discovered Online Since Quitting Social Media [VIDEO]

President Uhuru Kenyatta may have deactivated his official personal Twitter and Facebook accounts but he has not been able to stay away from social media.

He hinted this during the relaunch of the revamped Rivatex factory that had collapsed after years of neglect where he announced that he had made an exciting discovery on social media platforms.

President Kenyatta commended young people who have utilised social media to sell unique items that have been made locally.

"I am particularly encouraged to see many young Kenyans utilising social media platforms to sell unique and authentic 'Made in Kenya' apparel, bags, jewelry and other wearables," Uhuru noted.

"Unajua wakati niliwacha ile ya matusi, sasa naangalia hizi nguo watu wetu wanashona (When I quit the abusive world of social media I discovered the unique clothes that Kenyans are knitting)," he spoke.

"Wachaneni na hiyo mambo ya WhatsApp za matusi. Kuna vitu vizuri sana vinauzwa kwa internet vinatengenezwa na Wakenya hapa. Twende kwa hizo sites tununue bidhaa za vijana wetu (You should also refrain from toxic social media debates and check out interesting locally made items that are on sale. Lets us visit those sites and buy from our young men and women)," the president urged.

On June 16, the Head of State hinted had hinted at the reason why he quit social media.

He explained that constant political bickering and endless bothering made him deactivate his accounts.

When State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena appeared on an interview with Radio Maisha on May 13, she responded that "President Uhuru Kenyatta's social media accounts are his personal accounts. He has the right to activate or deactivate them as he wills. He has his reasons, and we respect that."

Before the accounts were deactivated, Uhuru had posted a strong message about fighting graft that became very controversial.
