2-Year-Old Crushed to Death While Playing Underneath Family Car

A family in Ndabibi, Naivasha Sub-county is in distress after a vehicle ran over and killed a two-year-old girl.

It is alleged that the family vehicle accidentally crushed the baby who had gone to visit her uncle.

Naivasha Deputy Commissioner, Mbogo Mathioya disclosed that the child had crawled under the vehicle when the incident occurred.

"Her family is traumatised by the unfortunate incident, but they are cooperating with the police, who are probing the matter," he noted.

In yet another similar incident that occurred in 2018, a Kenyan dad living in the United States, Michael Mutuma ran over his 18-month-old son, Dan Mutuma, while reversing his car.

Fox 4 News, a publication in the US reported that Mutuma had returned home to pick some documents he had forgotten when the incident happened.

"It is so painful to the entire family and especially to the father to have crushed his own son. There is no way he could have seen the kid who was playing behind.

"The child had run unnoticed behind the vehicle as the father was reversing," Ezra Kamencu, an in-law stated.

The incident had triggered a revival of a campaign to sensitize motorists on the need to check underneath and around their vehicles before driving, to prevent such tragedies from happening.
