Mutua Shames Sonko, Takes Over Statues in CBD

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Tuesday took to his social media to condemn the neglect of the statues in Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.

Mutua who visited Dedan Kimathi's and Tom Mboya's statues in Nairobi, plainly declared the disgusting and shameful state of the two historical features.

"I am disgusted by the shameful state of neglect and disrepair of the statues. I am actually affected by their state because I participated actively in the policy for their construction, with Amb. Francis Muthaura, when I served as Government Spokesperson," Mutua posted.

Mutua went ahead to declare that he would personally maintain the statues that bear huge importance to Kenya's history.

"I will personally repair and maintain the statues for as long as it takes or [sic] those concerned wake up from their slumber," declared the governor.

The Machakos Governor further blasted Sonko for his early 2022 political campaigns and exposed him for neglect of buildings, airports, and parks in the city.

"I fail to understand leaders who are busy clamoring for positions of power after 2022 and currently unable to take care of business that affects Kenyans. We have to reject such leadership," stated the angry governor.

He took the banter a notch higher by comparing how well he maintained statues, parks and government areas in Machakos as opposed to Sonko's government.

"That is why in Machakos, we ensure all government areas, statues, parks, stadiums, offices, etc are well-taken care off and maintained to the same standards they were when constructed, if not better," boasted Mutua.

Mutua concluded by urging Sonko to stop embarrassing President Uhuru Kenyatta because the Head of State could not maintain the statues himself.

"Surely, we do not expect President Uhuru Kenyatta to personally visit, clean and repair Tom Mboya‘s or Dedan Kimathi’s statues. His people are letting him down and heads should roll. This is an embarrassment to president Uhuru and his government," Mutua wrote.
