Ruto Defended Me Before My Sacking - Echesa [VIDEO]

Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa, on Saturday, revealed that DP William Ruto tried to defend him before he was kicked out of office.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Mumias, Kakamega County, the former minister explained that some people didn't want him at the docket so they forced him out.

"There was some drama and I know that the DP fought for me but the conmen had their way. Anyway, we leave it to God," stated Echesa.

On March 1, President Kenyatta announced that he had fired the controversial CS and replaced him with Amina Mohamed.

Echesa had been mentioned in a number of cases that might have led to his dismissal from the cabinet.

Apart from being entangled in a money laundering case, the former CS found himself in trouble when eight Pakistani belly dancers who were arrested in Parklands, Nairobi claimed that they were in the country with his full permission.

He was also accused of paying three journalists to photoshop images of Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala in bed with a woman.

After being dismissed, Echesa revealed that he was going to further his education since he was tired of being referred to as an academic dwarf.

"I'm also young and time is definitely on my side. It’s back to the drawing board and strategise.

Who knows, I could as well have those academic papers that people keep talking about,” the former CS explained.
