Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala accused Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa of trying to entrap him with fake nude photos.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on Thursday, Malala maintained that the CS had colluded with some journalists to have his picture photoshopped and simulate him in a compromising situation with a non-existent woman.
Malala claimed that he never had any issues with the Sports CS and he was shocked to learn of the plot which would have tarnished his character.
The three journalists- David Ndolo, Stafford Ondego and Alex Njue were arrested on Tuesday and locked up at the KICC police station.
Police were also looking to arrest the Sports CS and his driver who allegedly sent Ksh5000 to the journalist.
Screengrabs in our possession sent by Senator Malala showed that Fred Ouma, who is said to be Achesa's driver, sent money to one of the journalists who had asked the CS send the money to facilitate the designing of the pictures.
"Am working on it but designer wants something Bwana Waziri may you help get me 5000 now job will be done asap," one of the screengrabs from a journalist sent to Kenyans.co.ke by Senator Malala read in part.
The number saved as CS Achesa Sports replied to the message stating "shortly' and another screengrab showed money transactions from Fred Ouma to the journalist who received Ksh5000.
"Seconds after Ndolo sent the Photoshopped images to the CS he forwarded to me the same. So I am a witness too in this case. We confiscated their phones and laptops," Malala stated.
The Kakamega Senator further added that he had directed Siaya Senator James Orengo as his lawyer and engaged an expert to help gather evidence that would be used by the prosecution.
On Thursday, the three journalists apologized to the Senator and admitted to being hired by CS Achesa to photoshop Malala's picture next to the woman who was naked.
Efforts to reach CS Achesa for comment were not as successful as his phone was off.
