A joint covert operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and their colleagues over at the Special Crimes Police Unit (SCPU) led to the arrest of a notorious armed robber.
The officers set up a choke point within Umoja One estate in Nairobi, following intelligence reports that indicated that the suspect had been spotted in the area.
Once the information was corroborated by various informants, the officers moved into the estate and set themselves up in various positions to ensure that all escape routes were covered.
The unnamed suspect unknowingly drove right into the snare and was apprehended without the officers having to fire a single shot.
DCI detectives had been on his trail following a house break-in that took place in along Hamisi Road in Kileleshwa on June 27, 2019.
The victim whose report was recorded at the Kileleshwa Police Station explained how a group of three armed thugs sprung up on her as she was going home.
They then forced her into her own house and ransacked the entire place making away with all her valuables as well as her white Toyota Prado VX.
The suspect was arrested while driving the vehicle in which police found various items belonging to the victim that ascertained that they had pounced on the right man.
"Bank credit cards, business cards and other personal documents of the victim were also found in the suspect's wallet. Interrogations into the matter are ongoing in order to bring all the other suspects to Justice," DCI tweeted.
