2 Police Officers Melt Kenyans' Hearts for Rescuing Abandoned Baby

Two police officers stationed at Meru central bank on Tuesday melted Kenyans' hearts by their humane act.

The two are reported to have rescued a baby who had been abandoned in a bush close by.

Mohammad Noor and Charles Kithinji are said to have heard cries from a nearby bush and on checking, found the adorable baby with an uncut placenta lying helplessly.

The two responded quickly with Noor taking off his uniform to cover the baby.

Noor and Githinji rushed the baby to Meru level five hospital escorted by bodaboda operators.

The bouncy baby turned out healthy with a weight of 3.1 Kilograms.

Kenyans, who were impressed by the act, took to social media congratulating the two for their heroic act.

Other angry Kenyans went ahead to bash the mother whom they referred to as heartless for abandoning the baby.

This comes after a commander from Kakamega Police Station was tricked by a woman who left her two-day-old baby at Lurambi Administration Police Camp on Monday.

The 23-year-old woman had gone to the AP camp at 4pm and requested the police commander for a small favour, The Standard reported.

The mother narrated that she had run out of money but wanted to travel to her ancestral home in Malava Sub-county.

The police commander, touched by the story, left to go and get some money but found the child dumped at the AP post on returning.

"The infant was rescued by the camp's officers and taken to Kakamega Police Station for booking, from there, the child was taken to the referral hospital for a medical checkup and pronounced healthy," Kabena disclosed.

The baby was later taken to a children's home located in Bukura, Kakamega County, as a search for the mother continued.
