Abducted MP's Aide Found Dumped in Mombasa

The Kenyan businessman, Raphael Ongangi, who was allegedly whisked away by three unknown armed men seven days ago, was found alive in Mombasa.

Kenyan activist, Boniface Mwangi, was quick to share the good news to fellow Kenyans, having formed part of a nationwide movement to find the aide to Tanzanian MP, Zitto Kabwe.

"Raphael Ongangi is Free. He was abducted in Dar es Salaam last week and dumped in Mombasa this morning," Mwangi posted.

"Raphael Ongangi, who was abducted by unknown people eight days ago, has been found alive in Mombasa- Kenya, his wife has confirmed," The Citizen tweeted.

It was claimed that Raphael was waylaid by three unknown men as he was driving back home with his wife, Veronica Kundya.

In her statement, the visibly shaken Veronica claimed that her husband was kidnapped at around 9:30 pm on June 24, 2019.

The couple was allegedly blocked off at the intersection of Karume and Msasani road in the upmarket neighbourhood of Oysterbay, right next to the Ugandan High Commission.

News of his abduction spread like a bush fire, with MPs, journalist, as well as ordinary citizens from across the divide taking to various social media platforms to agitate for his immediate release.

Raphael also ran a transportation business between the port of Dar es Salaam and neighbouring countries of DR Congo, Zambia and Rwanda.

Controversially, Veronica told the media that it was, in fact, the Tanzanian security agents who had taken her husband adding that she would not rest until she was reunited with her husband.

However, Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone Commander, Lazaro Mombasa, on June 26, 2019, told The Citizen that he was not aware of the incident.

During his big reveal, Boniface went on to thank the entire online community for pressuring Raphael's abductors into setting him free.
