Bob Collymore's Wife Wambui Kamiru Breaks Silence

The wife of the late Bob Collymore, Wambui Kamiru Collymore, spoke for the first time on Wednesday, since the demise of her husband.

Taking to Twitter, Wambui expressed her appreciation to all those that had sent her messages of condolences and had her in their thoughts and prayers.

"I am overwhelmed by all the love and beautiful messages I have been receiving from you all here. It is a true testament to the character of the special man I was lucky to love.

"I can't respond to all your messages but know that I have read and received your warmth. Thank you," she posted.

Collymore and Wambui wedded on April 2, 2016, at an upmarket residence in Kitusuru, Nairobi.

In a text forwarded to Citizen TV's Jeff Koinange during the Wednesday JKL show, Wambui urged those who would attend the memorial service to to wear bright colours during Thursday’s memorial service.

The journalist was hosting friends of the late Collymore during the show.

Following the passing of the Safaricom boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta led citizens from across the country in mourning the CEO that many came to love and admire.

“It is with a deep sense of loss that I have received the sad news of the death of Safaricom CEO Robert (Bob) William Collymore this morning.

"In this moment of great sorrow, my thoughts and prayers go out to his family, relatives, friends and the staff of Safaricom,” the president expressed in a statement.

"A distinguished titan, whose shrewd leadership at the helm of Safaricom was commendable. Collymore was exemplary, brilliant and courageous, especially in the manner he battled cancer,” Deputy President William Ruto weighed in.

The Safaricom boss died at the age of 61 from acute myeloid leukemia.
