4 Major Nairobi Roads to Remain Closed on Saturday

Motorists operating in Nairobi have been advised to avoid these four major roads on Saturday to pave way for a planned Annual Diabetes walk.

In a statement, Nairobi county traffic commander Joshua Omukata revealed that Uhuru Highway, Lang'ata RoadHaile Sellasie Avenue, and Hospital Road will remain closed for the occasion.

The event is expected to take place starting 6am to 12pm.

The state offered alternative routes to be used by motorists during the hours in which the walk will take place.

Those plying Lang'ata Road will be diverted to Southern Bypass to join Mombasa Road which will connect with Lusaka, Jogoo and Landhies roads.

"Motor vehicles towards CBD are advised to use Southern bypass to join Mombasa road and join Lusaka, Jogoo and Landhies road to avoid the event road. This applies to motor vehicles along Mombasa road to follow the same," read the statement in part.

The letter further indicated that police officers will be deployed at different points in the city to effectively facilitate the diversion.

Uhuru Highway will only serve as a single carriageway between Uhuru Highway/Haile Selassie Avenue round-about and Uhuru Highway/Bunyala round-about.

Motorists from Ngong Road will access the CBD through Valley Road and Kenyatta Avenue.

Those entering the CBD through Hospital Road will be redirected to join Valley road and Kenyatta Avenue at the Hospital road/Ngong road junction.
