Junior Police Officer Beats Up Boss

A police corporal from Ugunja Police Station in Siaya County attacked his boss, landing heavy kicks and blows on his rival.

The senior sergeant, who was sitting under a tree at the station, had accused the law enforcer of indiscipline and insubordination.

“The sergeant was sitting under a tree from where he started hurling insults at the corporal, who was passing by. He told the junior officer he is inept,” stated a colleague who witnessed the incident.

The senior officer would castigate the corporal every chance he got until his junior answered back and tried to defend himself.

His behaviour seemed to irk the boss and led to a verbal exchange from both sides before the junior swiftly and unexpectedly pounced on his boss, sending the sergeant sprawling to the ground, as bewildered members of the public and other police officers scampered.

It took the intervention of senior officers at the station for the corporal to stop beating up the sergeant.

Members of the public, who had gone to seek services at the police station, were ordered out of the premises so as to save the situation.

Siaya County Police Commander, Francis Koome, assured that disciplinary measures had been instituted against the officers and a team appointed to handle the matter.

Speaking to KNA, Koome assured members of the public that action would be taken against the offenders.

“They quarreled in public and the sub county police commander has instituted a disciplinary board to look into the matter. Action will be taken against anybody found culpable,” stated the CPC.

In a previous incident, an AP in Kisumu, on Monday, is reported to have fired six rounds of ammunition that severely injured her colleague and a civilian.

The police officer was shot on both thighs while the woman, a resident, was injured in the abdomen.

The injured individuals were rushed to the Kisumu Specialist Hospital where they were admitted in serious condition.
