A member of the National Assembly who was whisked from an event after he showed up drunk and caused chaos has finally broken his silence about the incident.
Molo MP Kimani Kuria on Thursday angered the area residents after he evidently staggered to the podium at an event that was aimed to address the illicit brew menace.
Speaking to K24 TV, Kuria apologised about his conduct at the event explaining that it was a mistake and he has since learned from it.
“Mistakes happen. And when one realises he or she has erred, it is upon him or her to correct the wrongs. I am to blame for yesterday’s aborted meeting. I am sorry,” he told the media house.
To prove his point, the MP attended another event to launch a development project at Chesingele Secondary School in Muchorwe while sober.
He reportedly only took a bottle of water throughout the event.
On Thursday, the youthful MP arrived at a meeting in Elbergon while intoxicated and with rowdy youth in tow.
His action angered the area residents to a point they threatened to rough him up.
So dire was the mayhem that police officers were forced to intervene and take away the first-time legislator together with his security detail.
The Elbergon meeting was to be chaired by Molo Deputy County Commissioner, David Wanyonyi.
