Collymore's 460K Alcohol Gift That Uhuru Wants Delivered

The special gift that the late Bob Collymore was to give President Uhuru Kenyatta is a rare bottle of whisky.

A report by The Star indicated that the former Safaricom CEO had promised the president a bottle of Johnnie Walker Directors Blend that retails at Ksh 460,000.

The special drink, which is packaged in a 700ml bottle, was released in 2010 and given to senior managers at Diageo.

According to the publication, the whisky bottle that Collymore had undertaken to give Uhuru was number 138.

While speaking during Collmore's memorial which was held at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi, Uhuru revealed that he was disappointed that he did not get time to collect his gift.

He went on to add that the boys' club, which the former Safaricom CEO belonged to, would have to pay for the gift.

"I was supposed to have gone back to collect my gift reserved for a special friend from Bob and so Peter Kenneth, Oigara and crew, you will pay. That did not belong to you," Uhuru stated.

Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth had earlier revealed that Collymore had served them with a drink that he had set aside for a special guest.

"Bob went to his whisky store and opened a very special reserve blended whisky that he had saved many years for a special guest.

"He insisted that we become the special guests and told us to share the whisky even for those who don't drink," he explained.
