President Uhuru Kenyatta is in Tanzania on a two-day private visit of the country at the invitation of President John Pombe Magufuli.
Uhuru made history as the first head of state to visit Chato Town located in Northern Tanzania which is a township in the Geita region, but it was a headline on NTV that caught the attention of Kenyans.
In the lower third section as they aired the news story of Uhuru's visit, the media house wrote "Uhuru Akutana na Pombe".
The statement was accurate as he did meet with Tanzanian President whose middle name is Pombe. However, when translated to English the word means 'Alcohol'.
Kenyans took notice of the headline and what it implied. Many poked fun, "I thought the guy meets with pombe daily?" one user wrote.
Referring to the Whisky bottle that Uhuru called for replacement during Bob Collymore's memorial, another user stated, "Kwani Peter Kenneth wamelipa ile mzinga ya Bob? (Did Peter Kenneth (boys club) pay for the whisky bottle they drank)"
During the visit, President Kenyatta called on East Africans to unite in order to develop a prosperous region.
The President stated through open trade and enhanced people-to-people interactions, the region will be able to deal with the challenges facing its people including poverty.
"We must aim to remove all barriers that hinder the free movement of our people across our borders," President Kenyatta explained adding that East Africans are one people with a shared heritage and a common destiny.
He cautioned political leaders against making inflammatory remarks saying no one will be allowed to sow seeds of division among East Africans.
"How can you tell a Tanzanian not to visit Kenya. You cannot deny Kenyans a chance to do business in Tanzania," the President stated.
