West Pokot Governor, John Lonyangapuo, suffered a major blow after four of his senior staff were arrested on Monday.
The county secretary Michael Parklea, Alice Jepkosgei (procurement officer), Elvis Mwanga (ICT officer) and Titus Mayech (county voucher inspector) were nabbed by EACC officers.
The four were taken in to be questioned over the irregular purchase of 20,000 bags of maize in 2018.
The officials were picked up by the detectives in Kapenguria town and taken to the agency’s offices in Eldoret, they were questioned for hours.
Governor Lonyangapuo confirmed the arrests adding that the detained would be arraigned in court to answer to the charges.
Close to Ksh90 million was said to have been spent on the maize that was to be stored in county stores at Kacheliba town.
The officials have been accused of inflating the prices of the maize.
This arrest comes at a time where the anti-corruption commission has been under pressure to tame the runaway corruption in the country.
Political leaders from across the divide have been calling on the Twalib Mbarak-led, team to bring to book individuals involved in graft.
Others accused the authority of being used as a tool for a political witch hunt.
