Senior Police Officer Hospitalised After Ambush by Hooded Thugs

At an eatery in the outskirts of Machakos town, hooded thugs, on Wednesday night, beat up a senior police officer and injured him, after which they took away his gun.

They are also reported to have been in possession of crude weapons.

Chief Inspector of Police, Huron Addinasir, was admitted at the Machakos Level 5 Referral Hospital before he was later transferred to the Nairobi South Hospital for advanced treatment.

County police commander, Farah Maalim, confirmed the incident citing that Huron was having dinner at the eatery when the incident took place, The Standard reports.

“At this point, we do not want to speculate over who might have attacked the officer, or the motive behind the attack but investigations are ongoing,” Maalim noted.

The gang is also believed to have stolen an unknown amount of money, jewellery and personal effects.

In yet another incident that occurred earlier this month, a police corporal beat up his boss for allegedly insulting him.

The corporal is said to have landed blows and kicks on his senior, who was seated under a tree.

“The sergeant was sitting under a tree, when the corporal passed by and he started abusing him, calling him inept,” a witness narrated.

It took the intervention of senior police officers for the fight to end.
