Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, on Sunday, made a compassionate offer to his Kirinyaga counterpart Governor Anne Waiguru after her wedding to lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.
Sonko welcomed the newlyweds to Pumwani Maternity Hospital for delivery in case she was planning to make additions to her family.
The governor told the couple that they would be offered maternity services free of charge.
"May you have a safe delivery on your bundle of joy on the way," he told the Kirinyaga governor.
"You are welcome to enjoy the state of the art maternity facilities at Pumwani hospital where the first lady of Nairobi is also set to deliver there in a couple of months to come," he added.
He also congratulated the new couple in town, on their union, which they celebrated with guests on Saturday.
“Before the honeymoon begins, let me take this earliest opportunity on behalf of my family and the great people of Nairobi, to congratulate my colleague from Kirinyaga, HE Ann Waiguru for getting married to Wakili Waiganjo," read Sonko's message.
The wedding was conducted in traditional fashion, with brown and gold being the theme colours.
President Uhuru Kenyatta applauded the customary wedding, adding that many Kenyans had forgotten their traditions.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, also praised the couple and called for the establishment of cultural centres in all counties, to safeguard against the erosion of culture.
