Kanze Dena Recounts How She Secretly Planned to Give Away Her 1st Child [VIDEO]

Just like many girls, State House Spokesperson, Kanze Dena, has, in the past, grappled with an unwanted pregnancy and at one time, she contemplated giving away her child.

In a one-on-one interview with Reverend Kathy Kiuna on Woman Without Limits, Dena disclosed that she had even signed papers to give away the baby to an NGO.

She further added that the whole operation was carried out in secret and that it was her friend, who snitched it to her parents on delivery day.

"After I found out that I was pregnant, my mum enrolled me in college. There was no way I would tell her that I was not going to college because I was pregnant. She could have been very disappointed.

"At that time, I realised I was not going home with the child so I worked with Youth for Christ... and I got to sign forms and go through counselling so that they would be able to adopt my child and I was going to do it in total secrecy," recounted Dena.

"God had other plans because the day I went to deliver, it (giving up the baby for adoption) did not happen and my mum checked in. My friend actually sold me out. The girl I went with at Youth for Christ for counselling, told my mother," she added.

The little girl, Natasha Anzani, unfortunately, passed away three months after delivery.

That was, however, not the only low moment Kanze went through in her life.

The former Citizen TV news anchor, further revealed that she battled with low self-esteem, while she was studying in Kianjokoma Boarding School, Embu.

She matured faster than her age mates and had bow-legs, which she sought medical help to correct.

When her little girl passed on, Kanze sunk into depression and even became suicidal. She felt like the death of Natasha was a punishment, for planning to give her away.

"One day I woke up and said I'd had enough. I took a paper bag and put it over my head, tied it and held it, hoping that I would suffocate," she recalled.

After battling depression for well over a year, the bubbly Kanze enrolled for a Diploma in Mass Communication, at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.

Fast forward years later, Kanze is leading an exciting life, being a State House insider and an inspiration to many women, on how to overcome depression.
