DCI detectives, on Thursday night, arrested three suspects, two who are in their teens, following a tip-off from the public.

The detectives seized fake Ksh1 billion US dollars at Fedha Estate, Embakasi in Nairobi.

"Ten million in fake US Dollars was today (Thursday night) recovered and three suspects arrested at Fedha Estate in Embakasi in an operation conducted by detectives who were acting on a tip-off," DCI affirmed.

The three arrested suspects, Joshua Odhiambo, Jane Ogenda and Dickson Ombaso were aged 19, 20 and 27 respectively.

According to DCI, some chemical believed to be used in processing the currency was also recovered in the suspects' house.

The detectives revealed that Odhiambo, Ogenda and Ombaso were also found in possession of a fake motor vehicle number plate and an iPad labelled Government of Kenya (GOK).

“The suspects have been placed in custody awaiting arraignment in court on Friday,” stated a tweet by DCI.

In April, in a similar case, the detectives recovered Ksh1.2 billion in fake US dollars at the Barclays Bank Queensway branch in Nairobi.

The cash was found in a client’s safe deposit box by a team of officers from the Flying Squad and five suspects were arrested and charged in court.
