Kenyans Gang Up Against Nigerian Journalist Over Controversial Post

A Nigerian journalist has rubbed Kenyans the wrong way after claiming that Kenya is too dangerous for her to visit.

In a tweet, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo, who describes herself as an investigative and medical journalist, stated that she had cancelled her trip to the country out of fear of being attacked by Al Shabaab.

While citing the bomb attack in Mogadishu, Somalia, where six people died, the scribe revealed that she would no longer be attending the African Women in Media event that kicked off in Nairobi on Friday.

Kemi also referenced the Dusit Hotel attack where Al Shabaab militants killed 21 people.

But that's not all. Kemi also launched a scathing attack on embattled Treasury CS Henry Rotich and referred to him as a thief.

"Should we just do #KenyavsNigeria? Your finance Minister is a thief. Uhuru just named a new treasury secretary," she added.

Her sentiments did not sit well with many particularly because she has a dark past herself. In 2017, she was detained by Nigerian authorities for criminal defamation. In 2012, she was deported from Canada.

Here are the reactions:

Nasir Mohammed wrote, "That's a very ignorant tweet. Mogadishu is not in Kenya. That's like an American saying they will not go to Africa because Boko Haram operates in Nigeria. Style up."

Goda Anski commented, "They would have stopped you at the airport anyway. We do not entertain threats to the national IQ average."

Abdulkadir Heski posted, "Who said you have fans in Kenya? Please ask for refund clearly you have been played."

Wendy Aydah wrote, "Apparently Nigerians don't even know who she is, which is why none of them is even trying to give her back up. Kenyans, let's leave her alone.
