Kibra MP Ken Okoth Admitted to ICU

Kibra member of the National Assembly, Ken Okoth, was reportedly rushed to the hospital on Thursday night.

According to The Star and K24 TV sources, the lawmaker, who had been battling colorectal cancer for the past six months, was admitted to Nairobi Hospital's ICU section.

It was not, however, clear what the circumstances for his admission were or how he was fairing.

In early July, the MP jetted back into the country after spending five months at a hospital in France where he was seeking treatment.

In March, he had sent an uplifting message to Kenyans positive that he would overcome the disease.

Napambana na hali yangu (I’m managing my condition) and we shall overcome,” he responded to a concerned Twitter user at the time.

“Chemo drugs are brutal on the skin and immune system," he later added.

While in Kenya, the MP the annual Kibra Music Festival which attracts learners from Early Childhood Development (ECD), Primary and Secondary schools, with winners gifted cash prizes as well as certificates.

Okoth, who looked to be in high-spirits, thanked Senator Johnson Sakaja for stepping up for him and ensuring his various projects took off during his absence.

"Our children have immeasurable talent; it's a joy to give them a platform to showcase these talents on stage through song, dance, and poetry," he stated at the time.
