Where Gov Waititu Was Arrested After 2-Day Manhunt

Embattled Kiambu Governor, Ferdinand Waititu, was on Sunday morning arrested after he presented himself at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission offices in Nairobi.

The Standard reported that his lawyer, Kipchumba Karori, stated that the governor had been “out of town since Friday evening” when news broke out he was wanted for prosecution.

“He arrived last evening (Saturday) and he has presented himself now to the authorities. There was confusion,” Karori spoke.

He arrived in one car accompanied by the lawyer and did not have the trappings of power that he usually enjoys.

Waititu’s wife Susan Wangari, was also arrested after DPP Noordin Haji ordered implicated her in the alleged irregular tender award.

After failing to get a hold of the county boss on Friday and Saturday, EACC asked Waititu to present himself at Integrity Centre as soon as he can.

EACC and DPP Haji want Waititu, together with his co-accused, to answer questions relating to the awarding of a tender for the upgrade of roads in Thika, Limuru, Gatundu North, Juja and Ruiru sub-counties.

The tender was awarded to Testimony Enterprise Limited which investigators accused of channelling back money to a company associated with the governor.
