Governor Waititu & Wife to Spend Night in Prison

Troubled Kiambu County Governor, Ferdinand Waititu, and his wife, Susan Ndung’u, will spend a night in prison after they failed to post bail.

The two will spend the night at two different prisons.

Reports by Citizen digital revealed that Waititu was taken to Industrial Area Remand Prison while his better-half was sent to the Lang’ata Women’s Prison.

The couple failed to raise Ksh15 million (Waititu) and Ksh4 million (Susan) cash bail, in order to secure their freedom.

In the alternative, they were to submit Ksh30 million and Ksh4 million bonds respectively.

The two were charged on Monday over Ksh588 million irregular tender alongside eight others implicated in the procurement law violation.

In the ruling, Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi gave the embattled governor and his wife three distinct conditions to ensure their freedom.

First, the governor was locked out of his public office until further notice, to give way for further investigations.

Waititu was also ordered to submit his travel documents with the relevant authorities.

The governor and his wife were also slapped with a joint charge of dealing with suspect property.

They embattled couple were accused that being proprietors of Bienvenue Delta Hotel, they jointly received Ksh 7,214,000 from Testimony Enterprises Limited through a fraudulent deal.
