How CS Matiang'i Plans to Use Huduma Namba to Capture Rogue Motorists [VIDEO]

Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang'i, on Wednesday, revealed an innovative new way his ministry intends to exploit to capture rogue motorists.

Speaking at a consultative meeting hosted by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the no-nonsense CS conveyed that the new method will employ the services of the newly rolled out Huduma Namba programme.

How the system will work is that Huduma Namba will be attached to the motorist's driving license and every time they commit an offense, they will be fined.

Then, for them to renew their licenses, they will have to settle the entire fine.

"We now want to move to the deployment of technology to monitor the way we move around. So a centre will be established and the speed governors you will have will be ones we can lead from the center.

"So that we can very easily monitor how you move. We do not have to rely on police officers on the streets. We can rely on technology to give us correct data on your misbehaviour," stated Matiang'i.

"Thank God we now have Huduma Namba and we have your cell number and, therefore, we have your driver's license number and a digital record. We will put all the fines in your account and you will not renew your driver's license until you pay all the fines," he added.

He further warned members of the public who thought that achieving such a feat was impossible explaining that it was the government's job to make sure sanity is returned on the roads.

Matiang'i further announced that after reviewing driving schools in the country, NTSA found out that nearly half of them (332 in number) were not following correct laid down procedure.

He disclosed that some schools had even employed old people as instructors while others did not own a single car.
