Politician Arrested With Over Ksh100M Fake Currency

A politician was, on Thursday, arrested with over Ksh100M in fake currency.

The Ex-Webuye West parliamentary aspirant Peter Sitati was nabbed by police in Eldoret with fake local and foreign currency.

The money was reportedly seized in a house that is said to belong to Sitati, in Elgon View Estate.

The fake currency seized in the house allegedly included Euros and US dollars.

The officers raided the home, after a woman filed a complaint claiming the politician had defrauded her of Ksh 600,000.

Reports by K24 TV indicated that the caretaker of the house was arrested during the raid.

On July 19, 2019, DCI detectives, arrested three suspects following a tip-off from the public seizing fake Ksh1 billion US dollars at Fedha Estate, Embakasi in Nairobi.

"Ten million in fake US Dollars was recovered and three suspects arrested at Fedha Estate in Embakasi in an operation conducted by detectives who were acting on a tip-off," DCI affirmed.

The three arrested suspects, Joshua Odhiambo, Jane Ogenda and Dickson Ombaso were aged 19, 20 and 27 respectively.

According to DCI, some chemical believed to be used in processing the currency was also recovered in the suspects' house.
