Suba North MP, Millie Odhiambo, on Friday evening, went all out against Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, following his nerving expose he made at the memorial service of the late Ken Okoth.
Speaking at Moi Girls’ High School, Nairobi, Sonko exposed Okoth's secret lover, MCA Anne Thumbi, and confirmed that he was fully aware of the lawmaker's association with her.
He made the speech in the full presence of the late legislator's wife, Monica Okoth, who watched in disbelief.
Taking to Facebook, Millie condemned the governor's move arguing that it was inconsiderate especially since the wife was mourning and that Sonko made the remarks on live TV.
The Suba North leader further claimed that Sonko could have sought more private means to sought out his sentiments with the family.
“There are people who still think intellectually and [are] not swayed by populist sentiments. Under the Constitution, all children are recognised including those born out of wedlock. The law of succession allows any seed of Ken to inherit. The idea here is to pitch for purposes of inheritance. Someone tell her the child is safe. You did not need to embarrass the wife and family.
"How Sonko behaved must be condemned in the strongest terms possible. Then, after all that, they still put an injunction? Didn't they know they could have just done that quietly without taking the focus away from the bereaved?" Posed the Legislator.
"Fact of the matter is, Sonko did not have an iota of respect for Ken in his defenseless moment in death, he chose to go for the weakest link. How do you embarrass one woman to please the other?" added Millie.
The leader further argued that the child in question was not at any greater risk since his mother was a member of the Nairobi County Assembly and so she had an income of her own.
"Look, he promised to educate the child. The mom is an MCA, so it's not like the child is actually in a disadvantaged state. Was the lady in legal marriage to Okoth or just sired a child together? Still, no justification for what, he did. Never will be.
"For just one sec, This woman had stood and supported Ken throughout his ailment, where were the body claimers then? He even acknowledged her, not 'them'," posed Millie.
She also apologised to Monica and adviced her to hold her head high since she also felt her pain.
