Laboso's In-Law Cracks Mourners Up With Tale of Her Dowry Negotiations [VIDEO]

Brother to the late Joyce Laboso's husband, Edwin Abonyo, left mourners at her funeral service in Fort Ternan, Kisumu County, with a tale of how her dowry negotiations went.

The brother-in-law narrated that on the fateful day, Abonyo was given a test by Laboso's father with clear instructions if he failed it thrice, he would not be allowed to marry her.

The husband then attempted the test twice but failed. It included identifying his wife from 24 women who were completely covered.

"This is where we decided to go to Kericho to take dowry but actually the father was not for it for some time, he was at least hindering Edwin from marrying Joyce.

"They brought the ladies, they were 24 of them. They covered them with lesos and then Edwin was told 'okay now, we are giving you an option. If you go thrice without choosing this lady, you will not go with her,'" recounted the in-law.

They made an attempt twice but got it wrong and that was when he joked to Edwin why he did not ask Joyce to give her a chance.

He later revealed the trick that made him ace the test during the final round.

"When we were walking, I was talking to the ladies then actually Joyce gave us a sign, we chose her and then we were given the lady," he continued amidst laughter from the crowd.

He also praised Laboso's personality explaining that when she joined his family, she embraced all members and was helpful in various ways.

He went on to add that she was more invested in academic issues.
