3 Agendas at Moi's Private Meeting With Top Rift Valley Politicians

Baringo Senator, Gideon Moi, played host to several key political leaders in the rift valley, at his family home in Kabarak, on Sunday.

The closed-door meeting that ensued has been mooted as Moi's bid to solidify his home support, with an eye on the 2022 general elections.

However, reports by the Nation maintained that the leaders discussed three things; local farmer's welfare, peace in Kerio valley and political trends in the region.

Leaders present at the meeting were Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, Moiben MP Sila Tiren, Nominated MP Wilson Sossion and Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat.

Former MPs Zakayo Cheruiyot, Musa Sirma, Frankline Bett, Businessman Bundotich Buzeki and Tiaty MP William Kamket, were also present at the meeting.

The Baringo senator has been steadily garnering support, in his bid to weaken Deputy President William Ruto's grip on the vote-rich region.

On his part, DP Ruto has been making significant in-roads in the region, having made at least 10 trips to his home base since the 2017 elections.

Political experts have opined that the two leaders are set on a collision course when it comes to the 2022 elections.

The senator went on to chair a fundraiser for African Gospel Church in Rongai, Nakuru.

He was joined by the contingent of leaders who he had hosted at his home earlier on in the day.
