MP's Car Involved in Road Crash Hours After Burying Son

A vehicle belonging to Ikolomani MP Bernard Shinali was on Sunday morning involved in a grisly accident along Kapsabet-Mau Summit road.

The crash occurred hours after he had laid his son, Chris Adema, to rest in Lirhembe, Ikolomani, Kakamega County on Friday.

The vehicle belonging to the MP is reported to have been travelling to Nairobi after the burial of his son who died in the US.

The Nation reported that the MP said he was together with four members of his family at the time of the crash at around 6.30am.

“We were travelling back to Nairobi when the accident happened. The oncoming matatu rammed into our vehicle as we tried to escape in vain,” Mr Shinali was quoted by the publication.

However, a report by K24 TV stated that it was Mr Shinali’s son and daughter who in the car at the time of the accident.

The media house reported that the two were taken to Lessos Hospital and were released after receiving treatment for minor injuries.

The incident comes after, Kimilili MP, Hon. Didmus Barasa, was earlier in August, involved in a road accident.

According to reports, the accident occurred at Ndengelwa area along Malaba-Bumgoma-Webuye- Eldoret Highway.

The accident was reportedly caused by overspeeding but the lawmaker escaped with minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota Prado veered off the road which resulted in the car rolling over several times.

"Sad news Kimilili MP Hon. Didmus Barasa involved in a Road accident at Ndengelwa. The good news is no injuries and we are all safe and sound. God is good," read a statement from the lawmaker's press team.
