Judge Loses Ksh1 Million in Wedding Scam

A man was,on Monday, arraigned in court after he was arrested for allegedly defrauding a Judge of over Ksh1 million in pretence he could help him raise money for his wedding.

Josiah Nyamboga Onyoni appeared before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and denied the charges obtaining money from the judicial officer through false pretence.

Onyoni is said to have lied to being in a position to buy and sell maize on behalf of Justice Njiru Nyagah to raise money towards the judge’s wedding.

He was accused of obtaining Ksh1,066,000 from Justice Nyagah in Westlands on diverse dates between July 19 and September 10, in 2018.

Onyoni was further charged on the account of cheating.

The prosecution claimed that he used fraudulent means to obtain Ksh500,000 from Elvis Moenga by stating that he was in a position to purchase a prime-mover vehicle to operate a joint transport business.

He was released on a Ksh500,000 cash bail or a bond of Ksh1 million.

In 2018, former Assistant Minister, Danson Mungatana narrated how he lost millions to cons in a fake investment oil scheme that was run by Abdalla Tamba

“Abdalla and his partner came and told me to invest money so we would buy oil. The first and second round there was profit, but the third round, the foreigners simply disappeared and went with the money till recently when I saw him arrested," Mungatana noted.

He further dismissed reports doing rounds on social media that he was conned by a witch doctor who promised to multiply his money to make him an overnight billionaire.
