CCTV Captures Gang Breaking Into Government Offices

Police in Maralal have launched a man hunt for a gang that broke into the Samburu County Government Offices on Friday, and did the most unusual thing.

CCTV footage showed the gang breaking into the ICT offices and going through a bunch of documents.

The videos also showed that despite all the effort, the gang did not steal anything.

They then tried to break into the store where the County Assembly Mace was kept but failed and escaped.

Police Commander, Karanja Muiruri, revealed that the suspects accessed the offices after cutting through the roof.

This break-in comes at a time when Samburu Governor Moses Kasaine Lenolkulal is facing corruption charges and has been barred from accessing his office by the court.

Justice Mumbi Ngugi ruled that the governor and his co-accused face very serious charges pertaining to the management of finance at the county, and cannot be allowed to set foot in his office.

The judge further added that the county boss had been charged with a criminal offence that requires him to keep off his office until a determination is made on the matter.

Kasaine and his co-accused were restrained by a trial court from accessing the county funds while the case is still pending.

The prosecution, through Alexander Muteti, told the court that stringent conditions should be issued to the accused, given the magnitude of the charges facing them.
