Police Spray Judge's Car With Bullets After Wife Raises Alarm

A high court judge was lucky to escape with his life, after police opened fire at his vehicle, on Sunday night.

The judge's wife had called the officers, expressing fears that he had been carjacked.

The Standard reported that she claimed that her husband had called at around 10pm, to communicate that he would be home shortly, only for him to be unreachable 6 hours later.

After waiting frantically for him to call her back with no success, the wife then drove to Kilimani Police Station and filed a formal report.

She went on to provide the officers with information regarding the whereabouts of the vehicle, which she had been tracking.

The police then moved swiftly and circulated information regarding the vehicle, ordering all officers on patrol to intercept the vehicle upon sighting.

The car was finally traced to Kileleshwa, at around 6am of the following day, and the officers subsequently swooped in and opened fire to deflate the car's tyres, bringing it to a halt.

They then approached the vehicle, only to find a tired-looking judge at the wheel.

He identified himself and maintained that there had been no carjacking, after which the officers drove him to his residence, having towed his car to Kilimani Police Station.

Nairobi Police boss, Philip Ndolo, confirmed the incident, going on to reveal that the Judicial Service Commission had also been informed of the events.

The judge has since been identified as Martin Muya, with Citizen Digital reporting that he was found in a drunken stupor.
