The government has launched a Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) to ensure all Kenyans can register for the controversial Huduma Namba.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna revealed that this should not be confused with a new Huduma Namba registration drive.
He clarified that the initiative set to begin on September 2, 2019, is only meant to ensure that Kenyans acquire the documents required before one is registered in the Huduma Namba database.
“There are those Kenyans that did not get the opportunity to register for Huduma Namba because they lacked some documents such as birth certificates and national IDs, so the government has created this RRI for them to be given these documents,” Oguna stated.
The initiative is supposed to run for a period of one month ending on October 4, with Oguna saying that a subsequent Huduma Namba registration drive is still under consideration by stakeholders.
National Registration Bureau director, Reuben Kimotho, on Thursday, instructed all county deputy registration officers in consultation with their respective deputy county commissioners to come up with programs covering all locations, schools and market places during the RRI period.
