Popular Gospel Musician Dies of Cancer

Gospel musician, Audrey Chibole, popularly known as Audrianna died of liver cancer on the night of Tuesday, August 27.

Audrianna is known for her song Niko Sawa that has featured BBC presenter Anne Ngugi and  her daughter Angel Wanjiru.

The 22-year-old passed on while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Women's Hospital.

According to her mother, Lilian Munyendo, the musician started complaining of joint pains two months ago and was taken to Kakamega County Referral Hospital.

She, however, did not get any better.

“I realised that her stomach was swelling and further tests revealed that she had an enlarged liver and severely damaged lungs. They also discovered a solid mass in her stomach, which they said was a cyst and it was removed,” Ms Munyendo told K24.

Audrianna's mother went ahead and stated that on August 22, 2019, the Kenyatta University student was transferred to Nairobi Women's Hospital where she was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer.

Unfortunately, the disease had spread to other body organs such as the ovary and the lungs.

“She was put on oxygen for the better part of Tuesday and in the afternoon as her condition deteriorated, she was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit where she died,” Ms Munyendo divulged.
